Aboriginal Culture Daintree Cruise
Departs Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 7.15am and 8.00am
Today you will participate in a very special indigenous experience. You will be picked up from your Cairns accommodation early in the morning and transported via one of the most scenic drives in Queensland to the amazing Mossman Gorge area where you will meet your Aboriginal guide.
Over a 1.5 hour guided rainforest walk your aboriginal guide will take you deep into the rainforest to some incredible places and share the history of the aboriginal people who have lived here for thousands of years.
You will walk along private, easy graded walking tracks, through the lush green rainforest visiting significant locations. Your aboriginal guide will share the reasons why they are significant in amazing stories explaining the history of this area.
Trekking past bark shelters and over cool clear rainforest streams your highly experienced indigenous guide will demonstrate traditional rainforest plant uses, identify bush tucker items and where they are located and share the Kuku Yalanji dreamtime legends as well as explaining the history of their ancient cave paintings. Your guide will provide a fascinating explanation of the rainforest and the aboriginal people's special relationship with the land here all taking place within a unique tropical rainforest environment.
After your 1.5 hour Dreamtime walk through the tropical rainforest enjoy tea and damper with your knowledgable guide with time for you to ask any questions you may have.
Sugar Town of Mossman
Your driver/guide will show you the highlights of Australia's most northern sugar town.
We travel to the picturesque Silky Oaks Lodge nested in the rainforest at a river location. Enjoy a Barramundi lunch (alternative options available) in this beautiful rainforest location overlooking the Mossman River.
Daintree River Wildlife Cruise
After lunch we take a 1 hour Daintree River Cruise, cruising through this rainforest river keep your eyes open for the Saltwater Crocodiles that live here, try to spot the many birds, tree snakes, wildlife and unique plants that make up this incredible world famous eco system. Make sure you have your camera handy.
Town of Port Douglas
We enjoy a short tour of the historical town of Port Douglas and the story of how it went from being a sleepy country seaside town to a tourist mecca.
