Solway Lass 127ft Tall-ship:
Experience the thrill of sailing on 127ft traditional tall ship, just like it was 100 years ago.  With 10 sails and 5500 square feet of sail area Solway Lass provides you with an authentic and romantic feel of a bygone era.

For many guests the opportunity to sail on a Tall-ship creates the desire to become involved, and if you want to you are welcome to assist 'Hal Yard' and raise the sails ready to make the most of the prevailing Whitsunday breezes.  There's also the opportunity to take the helm and steer Solway Lass around the Islands or to the next anchorage.

Your cabins are comfortable, with Solway Lass being professionally refitted during 1999.  You can choose from one of the 11 private guest cabins, double, twin or share and it's cool inside with air conditioning.

And of course when you're not sailing, diving, snorkelling or swimming, there's always time to enjoy an icy cold drink from our fully equipped bar area.  Don't forget to pack your favourite music CD's to help the evening party on.

There's plenty of great food:
Enjoy freshly prepared meals direct from the galley on our magnificent open-air restaurant which boasts unbeatable views.  Whether it's a BBQ or roast, you'll enjoy the magnificent food.  How about pre dinner snacks of nachos, cheese, crackers and a cool drink as the sun sets on the tropical islands.  By the time we serve dessert the millions of stars will be out to tantalise your senses.

The Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsunday Islands offer a treasure trove of colourful sights, scenes and activities.  From snorkelling the amazing corals and swimming with the marine life, to taking in the beauty of Whitehaven Beach 6km's of pure white silica sand with crystal clear water.  There's plenty of time to bushwalk and explore the many beaches which surround the islands.

Amazing History:
Solway Lass has an incredible history, having sailed the high seas since 1902.  Built in Holland of German Blue Steel, with laid decks of Oregon timber.  Solway Lass began life as a sail powered coastal trader in the Baltic and North seas.  Some of her feats include sailing for the British in WW1 with cannons mounted on the decks to shoot at submarines.

During WW11 the German Army used Solway Lass as a sail powered ice breaker to get supplies through to the front line.  In the 1970's Solway Lass worked as a cargo vessel in the South Pacific carrying general goods, including livestock and even Volkswagen cars.

During 1985 to 1987 Solway Lass was rebuilt and restored to her original glory in Sydney.

In 1988 Solway Lass took pride of place in the Tallship re-enactment of the 1st fleet into Sydney Harbour.

Between 1988 m- 1999 Solway Lass provided day sailing adventures on Sydney Harbour and also acted as a floating restaurant at night.

In early 1999 Solway Lass had her interior refitted and she began another chapter in her life as a luxury overnight charter ship in the Whitsunday's.
