The 5 Day expedition is the ultimate way to see this world heritage listed area and this program allows you to view some of the most spectacular scenery that Kakadu has to offer. It visits all of the areas offered on our 4 Day Kakadu Experience (including Graveside Gorge) with the addition of Koolpin Gorge, another of our special permit areas. Koolpin Gorge has been designated as a "Wilderness Zone" in Kakadu and is a well sought after destination with only 2 other companies in Australia being permitted to enter.

Departures from Darwin:
Departs June 2009 to September 2009 on Thursday and Sunday. Please advise when booking where to pick you up from in Darwin. Pick ups are available from local accommodation venues. If you don’t yet know where you are staying we will give you the address to go to where you can board the tour. Alternatively you can tell our operator when you phone to reconfirm at least 24 hours prior to departure.
Itinerary:
Day 1: - Darwin – Koolpin Gorge
The Marrakai Floodplain and the White Lily Billabong are the first stops when the tour leaves Darwin. You have the chance to see some fantastic views and to see the birds of the Top End. From here the tour will travel on to the Warradjan Cultural Centre where you will view artifacts and learn about the traditional owners of this region and their extensive connection to the land. The tour then visits Maluk for a refreshing swim before heading to the overnight bush camp at Koolpin Gorge.

Day 2: - Koolpin Gorge - Gunlom
Today it is time to get off the busy roads and do some exploring at stunning Koolpin Gorge. The Gorge is located in a very remote part of southern Kakadu and your tour is one of only 3 tour companies that have permission to go there. Spend a full day hiking along Koolpin Creek set in some of Kakadu’s most spectacular scenery. Plenty of time to cool off in the many escarpment pools along the way. Tonight you camp at Gunlom.

Day 3: - Gunlom – Graveside Gorge
Today you get to experience some offroad four wheel driving as the tour heads even further away from the crowds along a tough road to Graveside Gorge, one of Kakadu’s most rugged and challenging environs. Most maps don’t even have Graveside Gorge on them. This is one of the most scenic areas in Kakadu with many interesting hikes and beautiful waterfalls. This tour has a special permit to enter this area.

Day 4: - Kakadu National Park
Still in four wheel drive mode the tour heads to Twin Falls where you will be in the company of an Aboriginal guide as you cruise to Twin Falls, enjoy an interpretive cruise up Twin Falls Gorge and a walk before hiking to the top of Twin Falls for more spectacular views over Kakadu. From Twin Falls the tour travels over four wheel drive tracks and sandy creek crossings to arrive at Jim Jim Falls, one of the most stunning locations in Kakadu, the tour hikes to the huge plunge pool at the base of the falls where you can revive with a refreshing swim. Ovenight at bushcamp where you will awake to the sounds of the local birdlife.

Day 5: - Kakadu - Darwin
This morning you have the opportunity to throw a boomerang or spear as you enjoy and exclusive Aboriginal Cultural Experience run by the Kakadu Cultural Camp. Learn how to play a Didjeridoo, try some weaving and listen to ancient Aboriginal Dreamtime stories. Completing the day with Aboriginal culture the tour moves onto Ubirr Rock where you can view ancient Aboriginal Art Galleries and learn about the meanings of the paintings. These galleries are recognized world wide as some of the best examples of rock art available today. You finish the day off with a private croc spotting and wildlife cruise on Corroboree Billabong that has a reputation of being home to many a large Saltwater Crocodile. Corroboree Billabong is one of the prettiest Billabongs in the Northern Territory. After your private wildlife cruise the tour heads off to Darwin arriving late afternoon.

What to Bring:
Refillable water bottle, Pillow for camping if required, towel, toiletries, insect repellent, sun block cream, hat, torch, warm clothes in winter months, good hiking shoes (preferably ankle high) no open toed sandals or flip flops (thongs). Any snacks you can’t live without.
Passenger fitness:
This tour is ideally for fit active people who have a degree of fitness aged between 18 to 50, you should be able to undertake a return hike of up to 8 kilometres with no problems. This tour is not suitable for children under the age of 14 years of age.
Passenger Participation:
Passengers are required to assist the guide in the preparation and cleaning up of meals. This also helps to get to know everyone.
