Don't let anyone tell you there is a better place to see the Humpbacks in Australia. Our whales here in the waters of Fraser Island are at rest and play as they take a break from their annual migration. They bring their newborn calves here to rest and strengthen for the long journey they have to finish. Here the whales will come and look at you as the baby whales see their first humans. Everywhere else they are on the move, here they take time to come and check you out, just look at the pictures and you will see.

Owned and operated by local Hervey Bay identity Peter Lynch. Peter has a wealth of experience with whales having operated his whale watching cruises for years in Hervey Bay and also as a Marine Mammal trainer for 8 years.
Peters boat the Blue Dolphin takes small groups only on longer 1 day cruise with lunch included. The Blue Dolphin is low to the water and is one of only 2 sailing vessels in the Whale Watching Fleet. Peter supplied us with a multitude of photos taken from the Blue Dolphin to demonstrate just how close he can get you to our whales.

Shayla Cruises operates out of Hervey Bay taking small groups for day charter whale watching cruises. Owned and operated by Brent and Amanda Milne both grew up in Hervey Bay and know the area well.
Brent is a Master Class 4 skipper with more than 12 years experience at the helm of fast catamarans on Fraser Island transfers, whale watch tours and other operations.
