Arrive at Flynn Reef, our first Outer Reef location. This site is known for it's amazing visibility. Depths range for 5 to 28 metres. Encounters with small turtles, reef sharks and schools of pelagic fish are likely. Water activities are followed buy lunch.
Coral Sea Dreaming will usually move to a second mooring on Flynn Reef where staff will offer a guided snorkel tour for those of you who would like to learn more about the Great Barrier Reef. From here the boat will move to Milne Reef the home of the Three Sisters and The Whale. Depths range form 6 to 36 metres. Passengers who are doing a night dive are briefed and diving begins. Dininer is served once the activities are finished. After dinner enjoy tea or coffee or a couple of BYO alcohol drinks.
Day 2: We wake up at dawn to watch the sunrise over the Coral Sea and a cup of coffee or tea. It is the perfect time of day to snorkel or dive and the best time to see reef sharks, turtles and cruising schools of pelagic fish. Breakfast is served.
We move on to the next location on Milne Reef (The Whale). This is a huge coral bommie standing in 24 metres of water with fabulous coral gardens surrounding the bommie, perfect for snorkeling close to the boat. Morning tea is served.
Mid morning the boat travels to Thetford reef, this is the last anchorage for the day. Coral laden walls rise up from 18 metres in a circular lagoon to ensure great diving and snorkeling. Lunch is served before departure. On leaving we hoist the sails. As we leave behind the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef you are treated to a spectacular view as we approach one of Australia's most scenic skylines, mountains on the left and right rising high above a tropical city skyline. We arrive back in Cairns around 4.45pm.
This is a description of a typical trip, itineraries are subject to weather conditions at the time. As we have access to a large number of exclusive moorings the boat will always seek out the best, most comfortable moorings for weather conditions experienced on the trip you are on.
