There are few one day tours that will offer you this kind of value. The Cairns to Kuranda Carriage Railway has been a major attraction for decades. Old railway carriages with character and a great way to get up to Kuranda to have a look around and perhaps lunch in this ex hippy town of Far North Queensland.
The railway travels through the suburb of Redlynch before beginning the ascent through the mountains surrounding Cairns. Lush green rainforest, waterfalls and breathtaking views back over Cairns offer you the perfect photo opportunity for a wide variety of scenic photos.
The railway travels along the edge of the Barron Gorge and if you look out of your window you are looking down into the depths of the Gorge. On the other side of the train rainforest and waterfalls. The train will stop at the Barron Falls before continuing on to end the trip at beautiful Kuranda Railway Station which is lovingly maintained and has a wonderful display of plants to view.
After leaving the train you will have a few hours to have a look around Kuranda and to have some lunch before starting the second leg of your day tour, the Kuranda Skyrail Rainforest Canopy cable car trip back down the mountains.
