Cairns:
Hot and steamy in summer but the rain that accompanies the heat brings to life the many waterfalls that flow through the pristine rainforest areas that surround Cairns. The heat also makes for an enjoyable reef trip to snorkel or scuba dive the many coral reefs and cays of the Great Barrier Reef.
Plenty of nightlife, tours and things to do. You can take the Skyrail to scenic Kuranda and then hop on the Kuranda Railway for the thrilling scenic trip to the Barron Falls along the side of the Barron Gorge and then winding its way back to Cairns.
Before hopping on the Skyrail you could drop into Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park before your trip to Kuranda. Plentiful safe swimming areas are around Cairns, Crystal Cascades is at the back of Cairns and well worth a visit on a hot day. The creek winds its way through rainforest over a series of waterfalls with deep swimming holes. Surrounded by rainforest it is a beautiful spot. Lookout for The Stinging Tree (very painful).
Maybe you'd like to go to a Crocodile Farm on a day trip. Hartleys Creek Crocodile Farm is north of Cairns on the scenic Captain Cook Highway, it is the original Crocodile Farm in Cairns and one of the first in Australia, Charlie the Crocodile is the main attraction there. They also have a reptile collection on display.
Daintree, Green Island, Fitzroy Island, Kuranda, The Great Barrier Reef, White Water Rafting, Hot Air Ballooning, Bungy Jumping, Parachuting they are all just a day trip away from beautiful tropical Cairns. You can book any of these tours with Oz Magic.
