Wayward Bus Day 1:
Adelaide – Flinders Ranges
Driving through the vineyards of the Clare Valley the tour takes in the country towns along the way to sample some wine at one or two vineyards. Enjoy the superb views as the tour gets near Wilpena Pound. We will camp tonight at the location of one of Australia’s greatest natural wonders.

Wayward Bus Day 2:
Wilpena Pound
Today is a day of challenging hikes and great walks as you hike and climb Wilpena Pound and the fantastic views over the landscape. After lunch it’s off to Blinman home to many copper mines. Overnight at Angorichina and a chance to swim before dinner at the local waterhole before sleeping in the bunkhouse accommodation.

Wayward Bus Day 3:
Oodnadatta Track – Williams Creek
Traveling through the ranges the tour emerges at Parachilna Gorge where you have the opportunity to cycle the gorge if you wish. The tour stops over for the last cappuccino available for the next 300 kilometres. We travel past coalmines and visit Outback Talc Alf before leaving the bitumen road behind and hitting the dirt track. The tour stops for lunch beside Maree’s Old Ghan Railway Station and the nearby Aboriginal Cultural Centre. From there we follow in the footsteps of the old pioneers and the Overland Telegraph route to Lake Ayer and the thermal mounds found there. Tonight you camp under the stars within walking distance of the Williams Creek Pub.

Wayward Bus Day 4:
Oodnadatta Track - Cooberpedy
On the drive to Cooberpedy you pass desert plains, salt pans and red dunes. Just beyond the Dingo Fence the landscape changes to the moon crater like landscape that is Cooberpedy. Stay in underground accommodation, take a mine tour as we show you Cooberpedy, check out an underground church and still have time to go fossicking for your own opals. Tonight you sleep underground.

Wayward Bus Day 5:
Cooberpedy - Uluru
This morning you get to roam the film location of Mad Max before hitting the highway for 700 kilometres of bitumen driving via Marla and Erldunda to Uluru. The tour is allowed to travel this route by special permit to call in at the Iwantja Aboriginal Arts Centre. The tour arrives at the campground at Uluru in time for the famous sunset.

Wayward Bus Day 6 & 7:
Uluru – The Olgas
You have two days to explore Ayers Rock, climb to the top or take a base walk. You hike the Olgas at the Valley of the Winds, visit the Aboriginal Cultural Centre, swim in the pool, take an optional flight over Ayers Rock. On the afternoon of day 7 the tour heads to Kings Canyon to camp overnight.

Wayward Bus Day 8:
Kings Canyon - Alice Springs
Today after a hearty breakfast you explore the North and South Walls of Kings Canyon and take in the spectacular views and rock formations in the area. Visit the Garden of Eden and the Amphitheatre before heading to Alice Springs arriving early evening.

Note:
Safaris must be reconfirmed by 4.00pm the day before travel. Itineraries may vary and/or attractions may be substituted due to seasonal conditions, Traditional Owner and National Park requirements. 15 kilos luggage maximum on tour (about the same as the airlines). If you have more luggage than this you must talk to the operator about freighting the excess ahead to the tours end. You must do this when reconfirming your tour.
This tour is comprised of three separate tours so tour groups will vary.

Reconfirming:
This operator requires you to phone and reconfirm at least 24 hours prior to departure. This is a condition of booking and something you must not forget to do.
On Tour Accommodation:
Accommodation while on tour is at permanent and bush campsites as well as hostel accommodation in a share dormitory with other travelers.
What to Bring:
Refillable water bottle, Pillow for camping if required, towel, toiletries, insect repellent, sun block cream, hat, torch, warm clothes in winter months, good hiking shoes (preferably ankle high) no open toed sandals or flip flops (thongs). Any snacks you can’t live without.
Passenger Fitness:
This tour is ideally for fit active people who have a degree of fitness aged between 18 to 50, you should be able to undertake a return hike of up to 8 kilometres with no problems. This tour is not suitable for children under the age of 14 years of age.
Passenger Participation:
Passengers are required to assist the guide in the preparation and cleaning up of meals. This also helps you to get to know everyone.
Itineraries are subject to change in accordance with the weather (seasonal) and the wishes of the traditional Aboriginal owners wishes. Alternate locations are used if required.
