Tour of Tasmania
Day 1 – Mount Wellington and the Central Plateau
The journey begins with and early morning drive from Hobart to the summit of Mount Wellington. Take in the views of Hobart and panoramic views of Tasmania from here. Breathe in some of the freshest, cleanest air in the world. This morning you will spend time at the infamous MONA Museum and take in the strange and wonderful works from artists from all over the planet. After lunch we travel along scenic roads via Bothwell to the Great Lake and Central Plateau. Late afternoon we reach the Ouse River, keep your eyes peeled for trout in the river and wildlife venturing out for feeding time. This evening we spend the night at our exclusive accommodation next to Lake Augusta.

Day 2 - Lake St Clair and Queenstown
This morning we enjoy breakfast before passing through Bronte Park and onto beautiful Lake St Clair where we take a scenic stroll. If it is still morning the Lake will have a glass like appearance making you wonder if the sky is up or down. Travelling west we drive through the Franklin Gordin Wild Rivers National Park. Take a walk to Donaghy's Lookout, the Franklin River is breathtaking and dominates the landscape, it will leave you feeling revived and in awe. This afternoon we will pass through Queenstown, hear about the strange moonscape that became part of the land and the history of copper mining in the region. We stop at Ocean Beach which has been called one of the loneliest places on Earth, the chilly breeze that sweeps across your face comes straight from Antarctica. After a visit to the postcard perfect Hogarth Falls, we settle in for the evening at Strahan, a quaint little seaside town with charm to match. You might like to take some local entertainment for the evening at a locally produced short play.....The Ship That Never Was.

Day 3 – The Tarkine
This morning we cruise past the Henty Sand Dunes, hike to the top of a dune. We travel through the historic town of Zeehan and onto Corinna, the southern gateway to the Tarkine. The Tarkine is one of the most remarkable amongst the Tasmanian wilderness, the Tarkine is an untouched web of delicate rivers and tangled rainforests. Enjoy the ambience of this UNESCO World Heritage listed site by taking an optional Pieman River Cruise or take a hike along the rainforest walking tracks. Traveling on from here we pass by the Savage River and Philosopher Falls making our way to Cradle Mountain National Park.

Day 4 – Cradle Mountain
Today you will find yourself 950 metres above sea level as we enter the Cradle Mountain National Park. Some local knowledge and interpretation will help you choose which walk you will take. With a large variety of different fitness levels you can either take it easy with a boardwalk stroll around Dove Lake or take the more challenging hike to Marion's Lookout for panoramic views. Moving on it is a short drive to Mole Creek where you can buy a delicious jar of the local honey. We visit the Tiger Bar and Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary and learn about Tasmanian Devils. We take a short walk at Alum Cliffs before moving on to Launceston, Australia's third oldest city and our overnight stay.

Day 5 – Bicheno and the Bay of Fires
Refreshed after your stay at Cradle Mountain we make our way via Scottsdale to Columbia Falls and the Pyengana cheese makers. Purchase some local cheese and crackers if you wish. The next stop is the East Coast and the beautiful Bay of Fires. We spend some quality time and stretch our legs enjoying this fabulous coastal region. The beaches are gleaming and the water calls to you so enjoy a swim if conditions permit. From here we take the most scenic coastal drive from St Helen's to Bicheno where we stay the night. This evening you can join a guided tour of the Little Penguins as they return to their nests from the days fishing (optional and seasonal at own expense).

Day 6 – Wineglass Bay
You start the day early to be the first at the lookout, ahead of the crowds and the heat of the day and to get that perfect postcard photo of Wineglass Bay. Take it easy on the secluded beach or take the more challenging walk to Mt Amos or Hazzard's Beach walk for your morning Freycinet experience. This afternoon we make a quick stop at Kate's Berry Farm before we cross the unique and bizarre Spiky Bridge. We pass through the historic village of Rickmond before arriving back inito Hobart in the early evening/late afternoon.

Experienced guides, meals as indicated, accommodation transfers, all local fees, Mona Museum entry, Wildlife Sanctuary entry fee including Tasmanian Devil feeding, 5 nights hostel dorm accommodation which may be mixed gender.

Safaris must be reconfirmed by 4.00pm the day before travel.  Itineraries may vary and/or attractions may be substituted due to seasonal conditions, Traditional Owner and National Park requirements.  15 kilos luggage maximum on tour (about the same as the airlines). If you have more luggage than this you must talk to the operator about freighting the excess ahead to the tours end. You must do this when reconfirming your tour.

On Tour Accommodation
Accommodation while on tour is at hostel accommodation in a share dormitory with other travelers for 5 nights.

What to Bring
Refillable water bottle, towel, toiletries, insect repellent, sun block cream, hat, torch, warm clothes in winter months, good hiking shoes (preferably ankle high) no open toed sandals or flip flops (thongs). Any snacks you can’t live without.

Passenger Fitness
This tour is ideally for fit active people who have a degree of fitness aged between 18 to 39, you should be able to undertake a return hike of up to 8 kilometres with no problems.

Itineraries are subject to change in accordance with the weather (seasonal) and the wishes of the traditional Aboriginal owners wishes. Alternate locations are used if required.

This tour is structured for people aged between 18 to 39. The tour is not suitable for people outside that age limit. The operator requires your date of birth when booking.
